Train Your Dog Effectively

Many people who have a dog at home can sometime be frustrated and aggravated that their dogs are extremely stubborn, don’t do what their told and are easily distracted. If you have a dog and you would like to train it, here are a few tips that will help you with the process.

• Start training your dog early on. The old saying that you can’t teach an old dog new tricks is partially true. Dogs are easier to train when they are puppies or when they are in new surroundings
• Never yell or scream at your dog when training it. This will only frighten the dog and will distract it from learning. Use a calm but authoritarian voice when training your dog.
• Use positive reinforcement when training your dog, never hit your dog for not understanding your commands
• Give commands that are easy to understand and are one word such as Sit, Stay, or Fetch. The more words in a command, the harder it is for a dog to understand them.
• Make sure you treat your dog with respect, If a dog does not respect you they will be much more stubborn and may be resentful just like people can be

Following these tips will help your dog learn faster and will help you be less aggravated that your dog is not listening to you.
