Find Your Lost Bird

If you own a parakeet, then you probably have let it fly around the house or even maybe the back yard. Sometimes when you least expect it, your parakeet can find a way out of the house and get lost. What is a concerned owner to do? Here are some tips for finding your lost parakeet.

If your parakeet flies off, most of the time, your parakeet will be near by. It is very rare that a parakeet will fly more than a mile away from its home. So if you lose your parakeet look around your property, the odds of finding your parakeet nearby are very high.

If you have dogs or cats that the birds don’t like, remove them from area. If the dog is barking in the yard the parakeet might be too afraid to come back home. It is best to offer the parakeet a quiet yard that will not frighten him to come home.

If your bird has a favorite toy or food, take the cage out in the yard and leave the door open with its favorite food and toys. This may just be the perfect incentive to have your parakeet back in its safe surroundings.
