Help Your Baby to Sleep

You may have the most wonderful baby at home, but for parents that both have jobs and tight schedules, a crying baby can cause lots of stress and sleepless nights. Obviously, if your baby cries through the night, you want to make sure that your baby is healthy, but if you find that your baby just has a different schedule than here are some tips on helping your baby to sleep.

Make sure your baby sleeps in a comfortable quiet room. If for some reason the room is not quiet or can be uncomfortable at night, your baby may awake and cry. You may have a window draft that lets in cold air. The room may face the street where there is street noise. Make sure your baby is as comfortable as possible.

Set up a nap routine. If your babies schedule is causing him/her to stay up late into the night, try determining a new nap and sleep schedule. Although this usually works it may take time for your baby to be conditioned to a new sleep routine.

Have a bedtime ritual, again conditioning works very well for some babies. Most babies respond to the security of a bedtime ritual. It can be a rocking motion, a gentle massage or anything that can become a nightly ritual which will signal bedtime to an infant.

So remember, be flexible and expect that you are going to be woken up during the night sometimes. But if you follow some easy tips, you may once in a while get a good nights rest.
